287: Reflections of the Human Condition ft. Tyvette Symone
Let your life inspire your work. This week on Carlie’s Couch, self-taught mixed media artist Tyvette Symone joins us to discuss her new solo art exhibit, Reflections of the Human Condition. Each of the pieces featured explore a symbolic representation of symptoms from her personal journey with Bipolar I. She often explores the symptoms of mental illness intimately in her art and aims to inspire and de-stigmatize the conversation around mental health through sharing her own personal experiences within the composition of her work. As someone living with this mental illness, she hopes to share a small glimpse of what it means to process the experiences that come with it.
The exhibit opens March 28th and there will be an artist talk on Saturday, March 30th from 6-7pm in honor of World Bipolar Day with a reception to follow. The exhibition will be on view until Sunday, March 31st from 1pm-9pm each day. It’s free, RSVP here.
